Move Afrika: Rwanda

A groundbreaking entry into the global festival circuit, Move Afrika is more than just a concert—it’s a cultural movement. Held in Kigali, Rwanda, and headlined in 2023 by none other than Kendrick Lamar, this annual event is organized by Global Citizen with a bold vision: to use music and youth culture to drive social change across Africa.

Move Afrika aims to spotlight Africa as not just a stage, but a center of global influence. It showcases African talent across genres—from hip hop to amapiano, Afrobeat to traditional Rwandan drumming—while also drawing global superstars who are passionate about justice and development. Performers engage in campaigns focused on poverty eradication, education, climate change, and mental health, making it a festival with heart and urgency.

The 2023 edition turned Kigali’s BK Arena into a pulsating hub of sound, activism, and solidarity, with both local and international fans coming together under the theme of progress. Workshops, youth-led panels, art installations, and social impact partnerships accompany the music, ensuring that attendees leave not just entertained but empowered.

Move Afrika is setting a new precedent for what African music festivals can be—dynamic, global, forward-looking, and unashamedly rooted in Africa’s potential to lead the world.
